Systems Engineering Team Lead - Material Handling Industry
We are seeking a skilled and driven full-time Systems Engineer to join and lead our sales staff engineering efforts by evaluating customer requirements, creating innovative material handling solutions, and driving project success. This role involves developing layouts both pre and post sales, assisting with project costs, generating proposals, creating schedules, submitting permits, and leading project implementation efforts. The ideal candidate will work closely with customers and suppliers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, contributing to the engineering studies and general application analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop warehousing storage and automation solutions, including creating detailed drawings and layouts.
Create manufacturing drawings for products.
Generate bills of material and accurately determine project costs.
Support proposal generation and the sales process led by sales teams.
Accompany sales staff on client visits to provide technical expertise and product knowledge.
Oversee project implementation by assisting sales with permitting, scheduling and installation supervision.
Collect and interpret data for engineering studies and application analysis.
Other duties related to the position as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in AutoCAD products (knowledge of 3D modeling software is a plus).
Familiarity with pallet racking and automated warehousing/distribution systems (e.g. Conveyor, AS/RS, AGVs, PLC controls, etc.).
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with customers, suppliers, contractors, and permitting authorities.
Ability to analyze data to create tailored customer solutions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Salary Range:
$75,000 - $115,000 (based on experience)
Education and Experience:
Engineering degree (preferably Industrial or Mechanical).
Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, ideally in the material handling industry.
Willingness to travel.
Clean driving record required.

This is an inside sales position, working out of SJF's headquarters in Winsted, MN. Applicants must be willing to work Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm in our office. Compensation is salary plus commission bonus, offering unlimited earning income potential for highly motivated sales professionals.

Job Description
Service new and existing accounts, quote equipment, document and process orders for fulfilment
Service both new and existing accounts by providing product and pricing support
Provide same-day follow-up on all company provided leads and client requests
Provide pricing and product information to new and existing customers who call by phone
Provide all written documentation needed for order pricing, picking and processing to the fulfilment department for processing daily
Provide freight quotes on quotes/pricing including all follow up and support with freight issues including any and all freight claim services
Provide freight status, delivery times and pricing support on equipment
Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports and making recommendations to resolve issues should they arise
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of 3-5 years of previous sales experience
HS diploma or GED
Candidate must have good written and oral communication skills.
Basic computer skills - Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (such as Excel and Outlook) and Microsoft Windows operating systems
Computer skills requirements include working with Excel spreadsheets, contact management and quoting software, daily data entry and email communications with clients and vendors
