What is Prest & Slide & Lock Pallet Racking?
Prest and Slide & Lock pallet rack are two distinct brands that share similar features, especially when it comes to upright frames which are nearly identical. The key differences between the two lie in their beam clip styles.
Prest beams attach to the rear of the upright and are composed of one piece. Prest rack is usually found with orange beams and light blue uprights.
Slide & Lock beams use left-hand (silver) and right-hand (gold) clips plus a kotter pin. Slide & Lock rack is usually found with orange beams and light blue or orange uprights.
Most Prest and Slide & Lock components can be used interchangeably, but some models won't work with others.
Key Identification Details
Upright Frames
The vertical structure that dictates the height and depth of the pallet racking system. Two upright frames are needed for a starting bay. Once the first structure is in place, only one additional upright frame is needed to add on. Upright frames come in two post sizes depending on weight capacity needs.
Beams
The horizontal weight-bearing structure connecting upright frames to each other. Beams come in different lengths and heights depending on the size needed and the weight of stored items. They come in step or box style, which allow the use of optional supports or decking. Beams can be adjusted and reconfigured as needs change.
Common Accessories
- Wire decking to add a mesh layer over beams so items don't fall through and to add strength
- Post protectors to protect the base of upright frames from forklifts
- Wall ties, back-to-back ties and anchors for additional stability
- Safety panels and straps to prevent stored items from falling off
- Spacers and pallet supports for added system integrity
